Michael Schmitz

Michael Schmitz is a lawyer and labour law specialist at MKM+Partner. His focus is on providing legal advice to employers and employees in individual and collective labour law. In addition, Mr Schmitz handles cases from the field of general civil law, in particular commercial tenancy law.

After studying and completing his legal traineeship in Bavaria, Mr Schmitz was admitted to the Hamburg bar in 1995 and worked in the field of labour and civil law for almost 10 years. In 2001 he became a specialist lawyer for labour law. After working briefly in an employers’ association, Mr Schmitz moved to a large Bavarian company in the automotive supplier and roller bearing industry in 2003. There he handled labour law cases ranging from warnings to dismissals as well as major restructurings within the group of companies. Mr Schmitz represented employers in conciliation boards and collective bargaining arbitration proceedings. Since 2013, Mr Schmitz has been Head of Legal Purchasing and Labour Law in the central legal department of the automotive supplier with global professional responsibility.
